Director of the Kebbi State Hisbah Committee, Alhaji Abubakar Augie, has said that it had in one
year rescued no fewer than 21 abandoned babies in the state.
Director
of the committee, Alhaji Abubakar Augie, made this known in Birnin
Kebbi while giving a breakdown of the activities carried out by the
group during the period.
He
said, “We found the 12 dumped babies alive and took them to
orphanage for care and upbringing while 31 women with unlawful
pregnancies were counselled and assisted to undergo safe delivery.
“The
committee had also recovered three unidentified corpses and handed
them over to the police for investigation and necessary action.
“50
youths engaged in drug abuse that were arrested are undergoing
counselling and rehabilitation,” the director said, urging parents
to guide their wards from associating with bad eggs, be vigilant and
monitor their movement.
