The end has finally come for the suspects in the kidnap of
former Chairman of the Ejigbo Local Council Development Area of Lagos,
Kehinde Bamigbetan, as two of the men have been arrested by men of the
anti-robbery squad.
Although the
men are yet to be officially paraded by the police, it was gathered
that seven of the suspects died in a gun battle with the security
operatives, while over one thousand live ammunition, four AK47 rifles
and 27 magazines were recovered from them.
Mr Bamigbetan was kidnapped by the gunmen as he was about to enter his street in Ejigbo, a suburb of Lagos in April.
The suspects were reported to have called his wife demanding $1
million (about N158 million) with a warning that she should not contact
the police.
Although Mr Bamigbetan was released shortly after, it was not clear if the ransom was paid.
