Boko Haram Amnesty Committee: Jonathan approves inclusion of new member

The Boko Haram Amnesty Committee was given the task of identifying and engaging key leaders of Boko Haram.
President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the inclusion of a new member into the Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of Security Challenges in the North.
Aisha Wakil was included into the list of members of the committee which had been given the task of identifying and constructively engaging key leaders of Boko Haram; and developing a workable framework for amnesty and disarmament of members of the group.
President Jonathan had, last week Wednesday, approved a 26-member amnesty committee chaired by the Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki, from which two members have already opted out from.
An Islamic cleric, Ahmed Datti, and a civil society activist, Shehu Sani, both withdrew their membership of the committee.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Rueben Abati, while announcing the new addition stated that the inauguration of the Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of Security Challenges in the North, and the Committee on Proliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons, which was originally scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, has been brought forward to 9 a.m. on the same day.
Mr. Abati advised members of the committees who reside outside the Federal Capital Territory to arrive in Abuja on Tuesday ahead of the inauguration.
